{"id":299,"date":"2012-06-04T21:13:30","date_gmt":"2012-06-04T20:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vennercorp.com\/blog\/?p=299"},"modified":"2012-05-30T21:16:01","modified_gmt":"2012-05-30T20:16:01","slug":"how-to-setup-port-forwarding-on-a-linksys-cisco-router","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vennercorp.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/04\/how-to-setup-port-forwarding-on-a-linksys-cisco-router\/","title":{"rendered":"How to setup port forwarding on a Linksys Cisco Router"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>How to setup port forwarding on a Linksys Cisco Router<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These instructions might vary a little depending on the exact model and the software version you have installed on your router \u2013 but you should be able to work it out from the below instructions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Default IP Address<\/em><\/strong> :\u00a0 http:\/\/192.168.1.1<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Default login Username<\/em><\/strong> : admin<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Default login Password<\/em><\/strong> : admin<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If the above default login details do not work you might have a more obscure model, please try the following alternate default logins.<\/p>\n<p><em>User<\/em> : root <em>Password<\/em> : orion99<\/p>\n<p><em>User<\/em> : comcast <em>Password<\/em> : 1234<\/p>\n<p><em>User<\/em> : user <em>Password<\/em> : tivonpw<\/p>\n<p>If they do not work try a combination of username admin and no password or no username and admin as your password<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Open your preferred web browser and type in the IP address of your router; if you have not changed it try the default <a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.1.1\/\">http:\/\/192.168.1.1<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A login input box will appear asking for your Username and Password.<\/li>\n<li>Type in your username and password \u2013 if you have not changed from the default enter the default login details above and click OK.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the \u201c<em>Applications &amp; Gaming<\/em>\u201d Tab in the main option bar.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the \u201c<em>Single<\/em><em> <\/em><em>Port<\/em><em> Forwarding<\/em>\u201d Button.<\/li>\n<li>Find the first empty <em>Application box<\/em> and enter the following information<\/li>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li><strong><em>Application<\/em><\/strong> : Remote Desktop<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>External<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Port<\/em><\/strong> : 3389<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Internal Port<\/em><\/strong> : 3389<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Protocol<\/em><\/strong> : TCP<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>IP Address<\/em><\/strong> : This is the internal IP address of the machine you want to connect to e.g. 192.168.1.10<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Enable<\/em><\/strong> : Click Yes or Tick the box.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li>Scroll Down to the Bottom of the page and Click \u201cSave Settings\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>You should now be able to connect externally (from outside your internal network), if it does not work try rebooting the router and then check the internal IP address you have entered.<\/li>\n<li>If it still does not work make sure that remote desktop was setup on the internal machine correctly by connecting to the machine from another internal computer on the network.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How to setup port forwarding on a Linksys Cisco Router These instructions might vary a little depending on the exact model and the software version you have installed on your router \u2013 but you should be able to work it out from the below instructions. &nbsp;
