Just opened a new account on twitter or Facebook and what to attract more followers then follow the guide below.

Facebook
1. Put your account details on your literature and business cards – give incentives for people to follow you.
2. Go to get started on your Facebook company/group page.
a. Send invitations to all your friends from within Facebook
b. Import contacts from your email clients address book and send invitations. – note you cannot change the format or text of the invitation.
c. Import contacts from your business database and send invitations to people from with your Facebook account. – note you cannot change the format or text of the invitation.
d. Create Adverts to request “strangers” to like your page.
3. Send out an independent email to your contacts asking them to like/follow you. You can offer them an incentive to get a higher response rate.
4. Get friends of friends to like your page by offering an incentive to your followers to ask their friends to follow you.
Notes:
1. Once you have 25 people following you can create a professional Facebook username e.g. http://www.facebook.com/vennercorp.
2. You can only invite your direct friends in your personal profile not friends of friends.

Twitter

2. Create a list of comma separated email addresses from your address books and business databases and then from within twitter send out a follow me invitation. – note you cannot change the format or text of the invitation.
3. Send out an independent email to your contacts asking them to like/follow you. you can offer then an incentive to get a higher response rate.
4. Get users to re-tweet your posts. Add “Please retweet” to your tweets.
5. Use # hash tags. This will allow people searching to find your tweets.
6. Include links to interesting stories, news items, websites, recipes, etc. related to your company.

Content
Duplicating content is not a problem as most people will only actively use one network. Having said that the content on twitter should be an abbreviated version of the Facebook content as you are limited to 140 characters.
With twitter you can/should repeat content as people normally view their twitter content on a constantly scrolling screen so they may not even see your post unless it is repeated.

Facebook content should not be duplicated.

If someone comments on your post on Facebook or twitter always try to reply, even if it’s just an acknowledgment.

Remember the reason for you to be on both social networks is to build up a large base of customers that your can target directly for future business, so you need make your accounts as attractive to people as possible and make them want to follow and interact with your business in the real word.
